Once again the wonderful people at MomSelect have sent a neat new toy for my boys and I to try out and review. This time it’s the Trio Building Set from Fisher-Price. Now, my boys are all about the Legos but I thought this set might be interesting to my 4yo. It turned out to be very interesting to all the boys!
Here is ds4 creating a robot just minutes after getting the set out of the box.
Ds3 made a sword…here he is pulling it out of the box the set came in, like “Link” does with the “master sword” in the Zelda video games.
Okay so you can plainly see the boys loved the Trio set and that it definitely sparked their imaginations. Now for what I loved about it! ;) I like the size of the pieces…any mom out there who has ever stepped on a Lego in the middle of the night or “accidentally” vacuumed those precious pieces knows exactly why I like the size of the Trio set. Which leads us to why they are called Trio…because they have “bricks, sticks and panels” that’s why! These pieces actually snap together and hold together very well…my boys have played with that sword for days and it has held. I also like that the one set can make so many different projects. It came with a booklet with several ideas laid out in easy to follow picture directions that show exactly which pieces the child will need to complete a project. I think it’s great how the pieces aren’t all individual parts…some are single, some two, some three, so building is easier and quicker for smaller hands.
The basic set we were given to review comes in a handy plastic bin for easy cleanup and storage and also has a lid that doubles as a building stage (see ds4 in the first photo.) I am very impressed with this product and find it to be an innovative addition to the building sets currently available. Follow this link to the Trio site and find a $5 coupon and more info on all the sets they have.
Would you like to have one of these sets for your kiddos? I will be giving away one basic set like we received. Just leave a comment with a means to get in contact with you. This giveaway is open until next Sunday, Sept. 13 and I will announce the winner on Monday the 14th. Good luck!
I'd like to win this to give to my five year old nephew for Christmas. I know he'd love it!
