You Know You Are A Homeschool Mom When…

you get super excited about the books you found at the local homeschool shop lol.  I am!  I am so very blessed to have access to a store that consigns homeschool items.  It is run by the most kind woman I have ever met, so quiet and gentle.  She has 4 daughters, all of whom she has homeschooled and all of whom have helped her out in the store as they were growing up.  She only has one at home now, and as I’ve been going to this store for over 10 years now I remember her as a baby lol!  The owner only opens shop 4 days a week and only from 1-5 in the afternoon to accommodate homeschooling.  She helped me when I was just starting on this fantastic journey and I owe her more than she knows.

Anywho, the boys and I were in town last Friday and I had the chance to stop by the store.  As it happens, it was full of cool stuff as people are bringing in things to consign before the new school year begins.  I was a little disappointed at first, because I went in with a wish list of sorts and found none of it, but wound up finding plenty of great things we can use.

That pic is so tiny!  It’s called World Famous Landmarks.  We are following Galloping The Globe for geography this year and this beauty will come in handy for sure!  It has neat posters with pics of famous landmarks from each continent, and worksheets and projects to do as well.

Also with GTG we will be covering Russia as our first country.  Bears are the designated animal to study and I found this super cute book that will appeal to both my 4yo and 8yo.

Ds3 will be studying Native Americans this year and I happened upon this neat activity book, full of fun and hands-on ideas.

Now I am getting antsy for school to start lol.  I am still working on lesson plans and will post about final curriculum choices and such soon.  It’s going to be a good year!

  1. I used the Native American book and the Bears book in years past. I am researching My Father's World. You used it for middle school, didn't you?
I want more hands on things for next year. Last year I was in a bit of a slump.
