MFW Kindergarten: Ww for Water

HomeschoolHighlights

This week’s letter sound and theme for ds4 were Ww and water.  As usual we had quite a bit of fun with this, and I could see he is really improving with letter sounds, reading and writing.

IMG_3510 Here he is completing some of the worksheets that come with the curriculum.  It’s about a worksheet a day, and he’s gotten to the point where he can do most of them without assistance.  He’s so cute here, he would sound out and read the word, then draw a little picture under it lol.

IMG_3522 He colored a printout about the water cycle and made a little “water book” that tells the ways we use water and gives hints on how to take care of that precious resource.  Both of these are from KidsSoup.

IMG_3523 His page about his favorite way to use water…swimming.  :)

IMG_3519 IMG_3520 We made a rain stick with instructions from EnchantedLearning.  Someone once asked about the letter sound cards from the MFW curriculum.  You can see them in the background of these pics, on the wall under our blackboard.  I just mounted them with small velcro circles.  It acts as his alphabet poster and is a better way to keep track of the cards for us.  He takes the one down that we are studying for the week and can easily put it right back up.  Sadly, Aa has been missing since day one lol.

We discussed the three states of water and evaporation, and then measured a cup of water, watched it steam and boil, and then measured it again to show how some had evaporated.

I have really been impressed with the MFW curriculum and how it has been just the right thing at the right time for ds4.  It’s not too hard, not too preschool, doesn’t take up a whole day and keeps him interested.  Just what we both needed this year.  For more MFW weekly reports head over to Mishmash Maggie’s

  1. Julie what a great idea for the alphabet cards! I'm filing that one away in my brain for all the Kindergarten moms in my future.

I'm glad MFW has been a good fit :) Don't ya just love that?

My daughter was sitting next to me when I came onto your page and when she saw your son she said, "Ohhh, he is so cute!" She's right :)

    Have a blessed weekend!
