Feeling Funky

Or maybe just overwhelmed?  I have never suffered from “SAD” before (dh has though) but with the gloomy skies and cold weather we’ve been having I find myself in a bit of a funk.  Not depressed, just a little out of sorts.  Tired of laundry, dishes, cleaning but can’t get myself interested in anything else either.  We had a lot of unexpected bad things happen this week which have probably contributed to all this…ds1’s car broke down.  He borrowed my van and IT broke down.  It could possibly be down for the count even.  Poor ds3 had to have a crown put on a tooth.  Not fun for an adult, let alone a 9yo.  And to the tune of over $400 dollars as well.  Ouch, right at Christmas time!  Sigh.  Dh is on call and literally every time he goes to work on my car he gets called in.  Very frustrating for all of us.  He also found out a coworker died suddenly yesterday.  Okay, everyone depressed yet?

Let’s try and put things into perspective, try and climb out of this mess and back on the sunny side.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.  Hebrews 4:16

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.  Galatians 6:9

These two passages say to me, first off, don’t forget to turn to God.  Very easy to do when you are busy and frustrated and it feels like the world is working against you.  The second verse reminds me that the good I am doing (laundry, dishes, child rearing) is GOOD.  It is very easy to forget that especially since these chores feel so mundane.  They are part of my family’s needs, and I am fulfilling them.  So here is my prayer.

Lord, thank you for giving me the ability to fulfill my destiny and please help me stay encouraged.  Thank you for giving me the strength and ability to tackle all challenges.  Amen

Thanks for listening.  :)

Great Bible verses to help us feel motivated.
