Homeschool Kindergarten: MFW Hh For Horse

HomeschoolHighlights

We had a few life interruptions the past few weeks so it took us two weeks to finish with our horse/farm theme.  I think ds4 is in some kind of transition with his schooling.  He is not as enthusiastic about it as usual.  I’m thinking he is not feeling as challenged, yet there are still some areas that he is just not ready to move on from yet.  I’ve added in some reading lessons from Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons and have been making adjustments to his assignments to make them more appealing.  We’ll see how it goes.

We had fun learning the general anatomy of a horse, their uses and abilities, etc.   Keeping with our farm theme I gave ds some pics of various animals and had him do some sorting, first into farm vs zoo animals, those he had seen and not seen (not too many of those what with all our trips to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lol) and etc.

IMG_5264 Here he is working on some extra worksheets I got out of a general Kindergarten workbook.  Thought he needed a little variety.

IMG_5267 Here he is working on math with a chicken and hens game.

IMG_5266 He made this super cute horse…the head is actually his footprint.  :)

IMG_5384 Some horseshoe sponge painting prints which we sprinkled with sand while they were still wet.  Too cute.  And check out how well he is doing writing his name on his work.  :)

Next week we start a zoo theme since the next 4 units in MFW are all zoo animals.  I only wish our local zoo had not closed down last year.  Oh well, maybe we can convince dh that we need another trip to Disney…strictly for learning purposes of course. *wink* *wink*

I’m not sure if Mishmash Maggie is still doing the Weekly Highlights but even so, a visit to her blog will do you some good.  Happy Weekend!
