Thanks to Mom Central I have had the opportunity to try a product I have heard a lot about and had an interest in. I was sent a 3 month supply of Nature Made Sam-e Complete, a supplement that touts a “healthy mood” as one of it’s main benefits. As a woman in my early 40’s and unfortunately in the throes of perimenopause, a “healthy mood” is hard to come by these days. In fact, poor Sam-e arrived on my doorstep during a time when, shall we say, my mood was at it’s most unhealthy. I figured it didn’t stand a chance, but started taking the supplement right away.
A visit to the Nature Made Sam-e website was very informative. First off I took the Mood Quiz and found out I am…
a tree. Hmm. To quote the site, I am down-to-earth, with strong roots that provide strength to stand up to life’s daily challenges, and long branches to nurture those you care about. But like a tree’s leaves changing in the fall, you might find that your moods change when life’s challenges occasionally overwhelm you.
That’s a pretty fair assessment. Honestly, turning 40 was a big deal for me and I can truly say that I changed as a person. I’m still a nurturing tree, but oh yes my leaves have changed with this new season. Yet I do not want yet another drug thrown at me to help with the adjustment! Doctors are just so quick to do that but I would rather engage in natural activities to benefit my body. As the website suggests I do eat fairly well and get exercise. And now there is Nature Made Sam-e to help even more.
SAM-e is a naturally occurring compound that is found in all living things. It’s distributed throughout the human body and it contributes to maintaining mood levels.
SAM-e levels tend to decline as people get older and certain groups of people, including those with low mood, tend to have lower levels of SAM-e in their bodies.
Those statements are from the website as well. And they make sense to me. So now that we understand what Sam-e does and how this supplement should help, the question is, did it help me?
Well, I have taken the supplement faithfully for 12 days now. The product box states that results should be seen within 7-14 days. I can report that on day 6 I awoke with a definite good mood. I remember feeling excited and looking forward to starting the day, even though we had no plans worth being excited about lol. I can’t say that since then I have been in some incredible ever-lasting good mood, but I can say that my mood has been more “healthy.” I haven’t noticed any side effects from the supplement. My only complaint is that you must take it 30 minutes before eating and sometimes I wake up hungry and don’t want to wait lol. Other than that it has been a pleasure adding this supplement to my regimen.
If you are looking for a way to help “Naturally Restore a Healthy Mood” then you should check out the website and give Nature Made Sam-e complete a try. And one of my lucky readers will be able to do just that! Leave a comment about why you want to try Sam-e for a chance to win your own 3-month supply, a water bottle and a journal. I’m going to leave this giveaway open until next Wednesday, August 4th.
“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Nature Made and received products necessary to facilitate my candid review.”
On a side note, how sad is it that I had to add the word perimenopause to the spell checker? As sad as having to add all the various forms of homeschool. Just saying. ;) Now feel free to leave your comment.
