Our School Room 2010-2011

nbts125

The Not Back-to-School Blog Hop is going on over at Heart of the Matter online.  This week we are sharing about our school rooms.  We haven’t changed which room we school in, but the room itself has changed a lot for this year.  My dining room has been a school room almost since we moved in to this house lol.  For years it has housed my desk, the table we school at and the boys’ toys.  Last month we rearranged a bit, moving the school table to the side of the room and bringing in dh’s desk as well.  We also moved the toys to the living room and now we have much more room and fewer distractions during school.  ;)

Here you see my desk and the school table.  I like having the table next to my desk instead of in the middle of the room…I can use it as an extension of my desk when making up lesson plans or working with the boys.  The table houses all the boys’ supplies and sits under our state map, ready and waiting for our year-long states study.

IMG_1017 The opposite side of the room now has dh’s desk under our chalkboard and word wall pocket chart thingy.  Note the message written on the chalkboard…the boys claim the neighbor girl did it.  ;)  We actually don’t use the chalkboard as much as my older boys did when they were homeschooled…the younger boys prefer using little dry erase boards.

IMG_1016 This is my hall closet where I store our homeschooling materials.  The shelf houses the boys’ school books as well as my teacher resources.  On the floor I have a file crate and three drawer cart for storage of paper, paints, craft supplies, etc.  Everything is labeled so the boys can easily find items they need or put things away properly at the end of the week.

I look forward to visiting other posts in this hop and seeing all the different and creative ways other homeschoolers do their thing!
