Week 6: Text Only Version

Week six was a bare bones version of our homeschooling lol.  We started the week off with a follow up dr appointment for ds3 with his allergist…apparently the whole city was having respiratory problems because we waited over an hour just to be put into a room and then even longer after that.  I have to say that threw off my whole day!  I was expecting a quick in and out and wound up spending the whole morning and part of the afternoon away from home.  I know, I know, why didn’t I bring along our reading, some of their workbooks, the SOTW text…I don’t know, in all our years of homeschooling we’ve never been the “school on the go” type.  I mean formal school, we are always observant and learning when we are out and about, but I’ve never had the boys do any real lessons away from home.

I don’t have any pics of lessons this week as my camera was dropped (again!) and the lens is broken (again!) and dh had the spare camera with him in California.  In math ds3 began decimals and really seems to have a good grasp of the concept.  Luckily enough ds4’s math lessons began introducing place value so I was able to impart something to both boys.  For SOTW this week we read the Assyrian story of Gilgamesh and the boys drew their own versions of Enkidu, the half-man half-beast.  The story had some impact on them as I heard them both acting out scenes in their playtime.  We tried an experiment in science and it failed miserably, so I guess maybe it was a good thing there was no photographic evidence of that lol.  We took Friday off to pick up dh from the airport and Thursday was spent running errands and cleaning the house so it was really a light week.

I’ve been meaning to sit down and plan out a solid week but have hurt my back helping clean out the garage yesterday and have instead been lying on the couch with my hot rice sock and watching football.  Honesty is the best policy, right?  Here is to a good night’s sleep and a better start to a better week.  :)

  1. We go through a lot of cameras, too. I hope your back feels better soon.
