The Roller Coaster Ride

Since Mom first went in the hospital about a month ago now, the family has often used the words “roller coaster” to describe the experience.  One day she is walking, talking, eating.  The next she sleeps so deeply it is hard to awaken her.  One evening we leave her room with a smile on our face and hope in our heart and in the morning we are met with somber news and dire predictions.  Just like when on a real amusement park attraction we have felt giddy and nauseous at the same time.  Today the coaster hit a peak.  My niece gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  We laid Mom to rest just yesterday and only hours later Ariahna made her appearance.  I don’t even know how to feel anymore except I’m pretty sure this new wee one is truly an angel sent to help us all heal.
