Fall Into Reading: 2008

FIR08lg

Yea!! Katrina at Calapidder Days is once again hosting a reading challenge. Well, it's really more of a reading gathering, as we are only to challenge ourselves and enjoy visiting with other bloggers who love reading. :) I participated in the Spring Reading Thing and must admit that it was not only fun, but very effective at motivating me to read! Which is a good thing, as I am also part of a challenge at Shelfari to read 50 books this year. I am up to 37 books so far, so my list for the fall challenge will be for 13 books.

4 of the books will be for the Classics Bookclub at 5 Minutes for Books (Sept., Oct., Nov., and Dec.) Two of the books will be some non-fiction I picked up. The rest will be several books from the same authors. I fell in love with Rita Mae Brown's little book The Sand Castle and want to read her other 3 books about the same family. I also am curious about the whole Twilight series so I'm going to tackle those 4. Finally I'm going to add the 9th book in The Princess Diaries series, in anticipation of the 10th and final installment due out in January. Whew. I am excited!!!

My Fall Into Reading Challenge Book List

For Classics Bookclub:

Jane Eyre
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn
Nov. book
Dec. book

By Stephenie Meyer:

Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse
Breaking Dawn

By Rita Mae Brown:

Six of One
Loose Lips
Bingo

The Princess Diaries: Princess Mia

Non-Fiction:

To Love, Honor and Vacuum

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else will be challenging themselves to read this fall. Except you guys are such a bad crowd and make me forget my own list to read what you are reading lol!! Happy reading everyone. :)

  1. Your list looks wonderful! I will have mine posted tomorrow, I'm going to try to be realistic and not have too huge of a list! I loved your MGM pics too, I have mine up now, if you get a chance check them out!

I feel blessed you put my blogs as one of your favorite! I did that assignment WRONG and had no time to change it!

  3. What a great list. We are reading some of the same books this fall. I am doing the classics over at 5 minutes for books and I am going to read the first one of the twilight series and see if I like it :-)

  6. Fantastic list! I really like Rita Mae Brown's mysteries set in Crozet, VA. But I don't think I've heard of the books you mentioned -- I'll have to check those out. I'm also curious about the Twilight series. In fact, Twilight is sitting on my shelf, but didn't quite make it onto my fall list. It'll be a "backup book." :)

  7. Oh, you are so right about visiting everyone's site and finding more to read! I just looked up To Love, Honor and Vacuum. I had to bookmark her blog and now I will probably be looking to read some of her books.
    Great list!!!

  9. I saw To Love, Honor, and Vacuum on a few lists in the Spring. I may have to check this one out. Hubby has Twlight right now, so I started on sTori Telling. I can't wait until he's done! I'm hoping all the hype about this series lives up to my expectations.

  10. Everyone is talking about the Twilight series. It didn't make my list this time because I already have so many books, but I really think I'm going to have to read them too.

  11. Hi Julie,
I'm not familiar with the books on your list, but I looked at your posted book reviews and think we have similar tastes. I also really enjoyed Water for Elephants, and have loved all the Lorna Landvik books I've read. I checked my bookshelves and sure enough, there on the shelf is Oh My Stars by Landvik. You've inspired me to read it next. Thanks for the reviews :)

And have you read any Laurie Colwin? She's written a couple books, essays about food, that you might like.
